Ultima Partner Pulse
Tom Walker
Head of Vendor Alliances

We're pleased to share with you the Ultima Partner Pulse, bringing together the latest updates from some of the key partners we work with.

If you have queries on any of the below or would like to discuss anything further, please contact your Account Manager or enquiries@ultima.com.

HP Inc

Due to our wide-reaching partner ecosystem, we’ve managed to mitigate the ongoing supply issues (Brexit, CPU and memory shortages) and when it comes to device procurement it’s business as usual at Ultima. For top end devices, the Dragonfly continues to steal the show but for most users the core Probook and Elitebook ranges remain more than capable of meeting user requirements.

Device-as-a-Service continues to be a primary focus, which includes an intelligent analytics application (TechPulse) which enables proactive fault identification and remediation (imagine your laptop recognising the fan was about to break and ordering a new one for you, all included in the standard support bundle). It also includes smart analytics to enable you to track device utilisation and reallocate accordingly (does Ricky on reception really need a I7 workstation?). More information can be found in our blog here.

Check Point

Check Point's premier technical event of the year, CPX, will be held virtually from 23rd - 24th February and for the first time ever, will be free to attend. Please sign-up here if you’re interested, presentations will include visionary keynotes, tips from world-leading experts and plenty more.

We're currently awaiting results from Cisco's H1 close, but there’s one area we’re expecting to be significantly over-performing: Security. As one of only a handful of partners with both the Advanced Security Architecture Specialisation and Cisco Customer Experience certification, Ultima have the rare ability to not only help you analyse your security posture and identify/rectify gaps before others do, but to also align one of our free of charge dedicated Customer Success Managers to ensure that the business outcomes you are looking for on purchase are achieved post-sale.

Stranger to Cisco security or having trouble extending your security perimeter to your homeworkers? We're currently offering a no-obligation 28 day Umbrella demo including support deploying the solution and a wrap-up at the end with a technical overview of the threats blocked- contact us to get started.

On 1st December, VMware announced the end of availability of perpetual Horizon licenses effective 6th May 2021. VMware are transitioning Horizon to a purely subscription licensing model but customers can continue to purchase additional perpetual licenses until 6th May 2021. Read the blog to find out more, or contact us for advice from a Licensing Specialist on mitigating the impact of this change to your organisation.

HPE’s focus on mirroring public cloud economics (rapid scalability, consumption based costings) with the compliance and control benefits of on-prem has continued into 2021 and it’s safe to say that their GreenLake offering has matured significantly since the days it was known simply as Flex Capacity. Whilst we recognise it’s a great offering, the reality is that there’s no ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to on-prem vs public cloud vs GreenLake. Please see our recent blog here outlining some of the benefits, and get in touch to explore what the right mix for you could be.

Dell EMC

We’re continuing to see huge focus from Dell on their newest midmarket storage product PowerStore. Built on Intel’s technology, key features include:

- NVMe all-flash or SCM optimised performance.

- “Always on” data reduction with 4:1 guarantee.

- Native support for block, file, VVOLs, containers.

- Scale up and out to add performance or capacity independently.

- Anytime Upgrade keeps PowerStore continuously modern without disruption.

Dell's President of Global Sales and Customer Operations described it as “perhaps the greatest product we’ve ever launched” and with a 38.6% share of the UK storage midmarket, it’s fair to say they know a thing or two about what their customers need from a storage platform. Like the on-prem vs public cloud debate though it’s fair to say no one size fits all, contact us for a consultation with our Data Centre team to explore the options.
